Nutcracker Vloggy Post - Kathleen

Hi all! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! I sincerely hope you aren't reading this on Thanksgiving day, and if you are, I really hope you get off and go hang out with your family... This blog isn't going anywhere, it's be here tomorrow... :D

Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving? Did you stuff yourself beyond normal? I did. It tasted soooo good.

So last weekend, Olivia (my sister) danced in the Nutcracker ballet with her Ballet school. It was amazing. So I though I would share some pictures of the evening, and sort of, drag you along with me!

So when we got there, we looked around at the ornaments they had for sale and the nutcrackers. If you want to get good seats you have to wait for like an hour, so even though it isn't that long, it still is awhile if you have nothing to do.

The theater is in the Scottish Rite Temple, and it is very big. It's huge. The orchestra has their spot on the floor, and we have our seats, and the dancers have their stage. It is a very nice, very large set up.
Olivia danced her parts well. She was one of the girls in the party, (or party girls), a Sugar Plum Attendant, (SPA girl) a soldier, and a Russian. There were two dancers from New York City; they were amazing. It was their last performance as they were retiring.

Then we came home and had a little surprise party with gingerbread cookies I had made that day for her. I had aimed from them to be cute pinterest cookies, but that didn't work at all. It's a lot harder than it looks.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have a great weekend!

Clothes and Beauty Haul - Kathleen

Hi lovely readers! How are you all? I hope you are all having a wonderful November so far!

I have a clothing haul for you today! It is pretty short, but I'm super excited about all the things I got! Lets get started!
We went into JCPenney's looking for some dresses, and after narrowing it down to 3 out of 10, I chose this one. I love this dress. It's amazing. It's a pencil dress, and fits just like it said it would. The glitter does shed like crazy, but I don't think I'm going to be wearing it so much that it will drive me crazy. The belt is black and has a gold buckle with some rhinestones. It zips up the back.

We then picked up this gold sweater. I has some glittery threads in it, but I don't think you can see it to well. It just is a nice sweater to go over anything that has sleeves a little short for the chilly winter weather.

While we were there, we went looking at the shoes for some black pumps. We found these, and I love them so much. They are super classy and cute at the same time. The low heels are comfortable without being kitten heels. They are a very soft, suede fabric. It's kind of funny, they look really big, but I swear, they are size sevens!
Please excuse my lovely closet backdrop, I need to find a white or black one. I am huge about getting cute clothes at not so expensive stores. So we went into Sears to look for some sweaters and tops. I found this really pretty blue sweater. It fits pretty snuggly around your middle. I have short arms so the sleeves are a bit long on me, but I find that super cozy, so I don't mind at all. You can't really wrap it around you, but I didn't get it for that. I really like it, the bright blue makes my ice look almost icy.
Oh my goodness this sweater. I can't even tell you! It's so soft, I could wear it to bed, but then the little pill-y bits would form. This top has a beautiful maroon-y mauve color in it. It's beautiful. It is a pretty boxy cut, and I love how the neck can be adjusted if you want it to be high, or low. It's great. The front is shorter than the back and that creates a little bit of an accent if you wear a white tank top with it.
Lets move onto beauty! I got this beauty blender by Real Techniques at Ulta, and I love it. Because it is a sponge, it kind of picks up the excess foundation, and then when you need it you can sort of squeeze it out. It creates a natural coverage. I wouldn't use this if I were doing a full coverage look, but just for everyday make-up, this is a total go to for me.
Please forgive me for letting my brushes get so dirty.. I know it looks nasty. Anyways, I absolutely love this brush, it is super soft and great for blending. This is Real Technique's Shading Brush. It picks up the product really nicely
Last thing! I stopped in White Barn/Bath and Body Works to look at all the Christmas items. It was super late, so I ended up just grabbing this one. Vanilla Bean Noel is super popular around this time of year I know, I didn't expect to like it because normally, the vanilla-y scents are way to sweet for me. But the mix with the sugar cookie was great! I love it!

Tips for Surviving Black Friday - Kathleen Pederson

Hi All! Guess what happens in about a week. Black Friday! I love Black Friday, but do you realize what we are doing? We are trampling each other, trying to buy the best thing right after we gave thanks for what we already have...

Nevertheless, I have come through with 10 tips to get you through Black Friday! Let's get started!
1. Research the Deals

Nothing really helps as much as knowing what stores have what deals when. It also helps your sanity if you aren't freaking out about getting to the store on time.

2. Be Flexible with Gifts

It's usually a pretty good idea to not have your heart set on one gift for somebody. I usually just go into the store with a general idea of what I want to get somebody. Once I am there, I assess my options, and go from there. Not every store has the same products.

3. Family and Friends First

I know how tempting it is to buy stuff for yourself on Black Friday, but if you buy gifts for your friends and family before pampering yourself a little, you will save money. Also, you won't have gone shopping for 5 hours, spent all your money, exhausted yourself, and not gotten gifts on the best day to get gifts. It all just makes sense really.

4. Be Reasonable with Employees

These guys don't want to be here. They don't want to be working. Do you know how many people are going to come through their store, tear it up, and then leave as if nothing happened? Do you know how many teenage girls are going to cry and yell at them for not having something? Be that one person who thanks them, and tells them Happy Thanksgiving. Clean up your mess and tell them to have a good day. They'll remember you I promise.

5. Sale does not mean Save

So many times I catch myself spending more money just because something says save. Look at it this way. Two mini candles cost $10 sale price/$15 regular price. Two large candles cost $15 sale price/$25 regular price. You are saving more money, but you are also spending more money. I don't think your friend/family member is going to mind a mini candle. They are cuter too!

6. Be Comfortable

Being comfy doesn't mean sacrificing cute. Ugg boots and leggings are both! Don't sacrifice just because you want to look cute. In fact, you probably are already going to look better than those people in their PJs...

7. Drink Water

This is a bit of a no brainer. But seriously, this helps with energy! Don't do the energy drinks, or the 5 Hour Energy! That really isn't good for you ever in any situation.

8. Don't get separated from your group

I know most of us are probably just with our mom, or a friend, but lets be honest, Black Friday gets scary real fast! Stay in contact with your partner if you decided to divide and conquer. Have a meetup spot if you simply can't contact/find each other.

9. Make a Budget

Don't spend too much money. This is good practice for being on your own. Your bank isn't gonna let the mortgage slide because you spent all your money on Black Friday shopping.

10. Maybe just wait until Cyber Monday

Think about it! You could just stay at home in your PJs, watching ELF, with some hot cocoa and Thanksgiving leftovers. That's probably what I'm doing anyways...

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post!

Photography- Emma

Hey hey hey!

I'm back with a new post! I feel like it's been foreverrr since I posted last when it really hasn't been too long... I don't know. Anyway, back to the subject. I am very uninspired today. I guess you could say I have writers block.

So, I decided that in this post I would just share some photos I've taken in the past few days. I take most of my photos on my iPhone so they aren't super professional, but I'm proud of them.

This one is one of my favorites. It has not been edited in any way!!!
Crazy right?! I've been calling it the cotton candy sunset..

I took this one on the bridge coming back from St. Louis.
I thought it looked cool.

This was taken at Laumiere Sculpture Park in St. Louis. We did this
art hike thing and I saw this perfect photo op. out in the woods.

Here's an awesome sunset, featuring my local iHop. (which is also awesome)

I took this photo using this really cool new fisheye lens I
bought for my iPhone! I'm planning on taking many more photos using this lens
once I get the hang of it.

I took this last night when I was walking at a park near my house. I
seriously took this while swinging! xD

Leaves leaves leaves.

I actually took this photo like 20 minutes ago outside
of the mall. I thought the sky looked really neat.

Sorry if this post wasn't too interesting, I promise to have some really awesome posts for blogmas! I have a lot of ideas and can't wait to share them with you all!

-Emma

ALSO, side note! I took a huge step and made my own blog??? Yeah. So that happened. It's nowhere near perfect yet but if you'd like to check it out, click here!

Blogmas Explaining and Excitement - Kathleen

OK people. This is going to be a bit boring, but I'm just gonna get to it.

In December, Two Dorks with a Blog is going to be doing a Blogmas. We will be doing it throughout the whole month, so it won't be quite the same as what YouTubers do with Vlogmas, but longer and probably not the vlog style.

Consider it a 31 Days of Dorks. There will be a blog post going up every day. I will start with the first post on the first of December; Emma will take the second of December. We will then alternate posts until the 31st, which will then (maybe) be a joint post.

So yeah.

I’m super excited for this. We have both been prepping for this for a while now, but that month is still going to be super busy, so bear with us through the next few weeks as we try to get the posts going.

We hope you are just as excited as we are!

Fall Outfits and Makeup - Kathleen

Hi! How are you! Didn't you love Emma's guinea pig pictures? I did.

So one of my favorite things about fall is the switch from summer clothes and makeup, to fall and winter clothes and makeup. I've included some favorites of both below because I know I can never get enough of the fall ideas. I'm going to do makeup first, and then clothes. So lets get to it!

I really love the dark, and sometimes natural look. It just creates this easy going vibe, with the cool mysterious dark lips. I love it. Then the light lips, I think are just great ways to include the cool eyeshadow but the ease of the nude lip. I just love it... (I'm also not super great at the terminology...)

I love jeans in the fall. I also like leggings, but I feel like jeans bring a more refined look in to the style. Scarves and button ups are my favorites. I have this really soft sweater on right now, and it makes me feel like Christmas day and October afternoons all mixed together... So yeah. I like it.

Ok, so this was a really short post, but we have some super exciting things coming up in December.... things such as... Blogmas????

*screaming in the background*

Yes. It's happening. Emma and I are super excited! I will have more for you on that soon, but for now, I'm just going to leave you with a cliff hanger!
